Some are saying that due to the major intervention by the federal government, the United States is more socialistic than it has been over the last 20 years. Do you agree?

Let me start out by saying that I am a true free market capitalist who believes that the best way to global prosperity is through free trade and low government intervention. With that said, I do feel that 2008 was the year that free market capitalism failed us all. All that possibly could have gone wrong did and in such a severe way that our nation has quickly concluded that capitalism is corrupt and unfair. Therefore, many Americans want huge government intervention and oversight.

As the economy begins to stabilize, attitudes toward government and corporate America will change, but as of right now, yes, there is too much government involvement.

With that being said, there is a huge difference between socialism and a controlled capitalistic society. Even with the increased government involvement currently present in our economy, we still have the freest markets in the world. In time, I expect there to be an adequate balance between government involvement and the free markets. It may take years, perhaps decades to find that proper balance but I am confident that is some shape or form we as a country will find it. I am an eternal optimist and feel that America’s best days are still ahead of us. .
